JOAN LEVY EARLE

The retrospective of my work which celebrated 50 years of art and friendship is over, and what an amazing experience.

First, a very special thank you to the Ontario Arts Council who provided me with an EXHIBITION ASSISTANCE GRANT. This grant helped to better promote this show with the people of the Belleville and Prince Edward County area. I am very grateful for this assistance.

People came from Cornwall and area, as well as Brockville, Kingston, Whitby, Oshawa, Peterborough, Richmond Hill and Toronto. The exhibition was officially opened on November 2, 2017 through a blessing by Most Reverend Terrence Prendergast, S.J. the Archbishop of Ottawa, and Apostolic Administrator for the Diocese of Alexandria- Cornwall.

Susan Holland, the Curator of the John M. Parrott Gallery where the exhibition was held in Belleville, did an outstanding job of hanging the 33 pieces of work, which were mostly oil paintings, and dated from 1982 through 2017. This retrospective celebrated 50 years of art and friendship.

Cogeco Belleville covered the opening and provided us with a short YouTube video which includes an interview and a look at some of the work in the show.Several pieces were sold, and now, my focus is on my next project, writing the biography of Canadian poet and naturalist Wallace Havelock Robb, the Abbe of Abbey Dawn.

Thank you to all of you who took the time to visit this art show. Your encouragement means so much. I won’t stop painting; just taking some out for research and writing!

Blessings, Joan Levy Earle
